“At least 37 new cases of COVID-19 detected today,” says Director of Health Services

By BBN Staff: Preliminary estimates for today say that there are at least 37 newly-confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to Director of Health Services for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Marvin Manzanero.

Speaking on the government program, Ask the Experts, Manzanero said that the number of confirmed cases could very well be higher by the time the official report comes out, but that thus far the data suggests 37 new cases.

He noted that the ministry is reviewing the data on a daily basis and found that between 50 and 80 percent of tests are coming back with a positive result. He also said that the third week of September had the lowest rate of positive cases Belize has seen since the month of August.
