Flu vaccine for 2020 flu season already in-country

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health says that the seasonal flu vaccine is now available in Belize and the Ministry of Health is getting ready to roll it out.

Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero explained that the Ministry is preparing to disseminate information on which target populations will be getting access to the vaccines as well as the number of vaccines received and the value of those vaccines.

“We can also note that every country is being told that in the first instance your are more than likely are only going to be having vaccines for 20-30 percent of the population so every county will have to make determinations as to which 20-30 percent of the population will have initial first access,” Manzanero said.

He also noted that, in previous years, Belize has not used all the flu vaccines that came in.
