Temporary US ban could destroy Tiktok

Posted: Monday, September 28, 2020. 4:23 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Famous Chinese owned video app, TikTok, in a court filing dated September 23, explained how a temporary ban could affect business.

This comes after the US government sought to ban new downloads of the app from U.S. app stores from Sept. 27.

TikTok explained that the ban would harm the company irreversibly by first stagnating and then declining its user base, Reuters reports.

In addition, if the ban was implemented for 6 months, 80 to 90 percent of daily users would not return.

With relation to the app’s global growth, the ban would have had major impacts including a massive decrease in content available globally.

The ban would also affect relationships with advertisers since US advertisers generate revenue for the app.

Due to the uncertainty with the app, many candidates have declined work offers with the company.
