Belize Tourism Board details entry protocols for arriving tourists

Philip Goldson International Airport

Posted: Tuesday, September 29, 2020. 1:52 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Today, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) issued an update on the entry protocols for tourists as Belize prepares to reopen the Philip Goldson International Airport to receive tourists on October 1.

The BTB explained that through its “Safe Corridor” system, tourists that arrive in Belize with a negative PCR test done within the past 72 hours of boarding their flight will be taken to the “fast track” lane for expedited arrival processing. Tourists arriving without a COVID-19 test will be swabbed at the airport but will continue to be processed through Immigration and Customs, and then exit the airport via the Safe Corridor using approved air or ground transportation.

“Visitors will receive their test results at their Gold Standard hotel via the Ministry of Health,” the BTB said. “This adjustment will minimize processing time at the airport and will allow for a smoother and faster flow. All employees working within the Safe Corridor are reminded to adhere to all Gold Standard safety protocols and operate as if though everyone is positive.”

The BTB added that should a passenger test positive, they will be required to quarantine at their Gold Standard hotel until the Ministry of Health gives them clearance.

The full list of Gold Standard Certified accommodations is available on the BTB’s website.
