By BBN Staff: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring a tropical wave that is located over the Central Caribbean Sea.

The tropical wave is expected  to move westward over the next few days and interact with a frontal  system, producing a broad area of low pressure over the western  Caribbean Sea on Friday.

The NHC says that environmental conditions are forecast to  be conducive for some additional development thereafter, and a  tropical depression could form over the weekend while the system  moves slowly west-northwestward over the northwestern Caribbean Sea.

This system has a 60 percent chance of formation through the next 5 days.
