Boat from Belize Coast Guard stolen

By BBN Staff: Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the theft of a Coast Guard Boat that occurred this morning.

According to reports, police officer Robert Gordon and 3 Coast Guard personnel were inside of the police booth near the Belcan Bridge, and when they made checks, they noticed that the Coast Guard Boat was missing.

The officers saw 2 men towing the boat away. They then fired shots and one of the robbers sped off leaving his accomplice behind.

The officers detained one of the culprits and the other escaped.

The boat has since been recovered.

Investigation continues.
