BREAKING NEWS: Restrictions on non-contact sports lifted as of tomorrow

Posted: Wednesday, September 30, 2020. 4:10 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Announcing plans to lift restrictions on playing of non-contact sports as of tomorrow, Thursday, Attorney General and Minister of National Security Michael Peyrefitte said that the pace of relaxation of COVID-19 regulations continues to depend on the behaviour of Belizeans.

For instance, gyms and bars remain closed and restaurants are still limited to up to ten persons inside by reservation.

Peyrefitte acknowledged that Belizeans’ behavior had improved since the spike in COVID-19 cases in August, but said Government would move more slowly nonetheless.

In related news, the COVID-19 National Oversight Committee will continue meeting up to the general election, said Peyrefitte, with no plans to include the Opposition which withdrew a few months ago.

More on this later.
