By BBN Staff: ExportBelize a technical unit of the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) is helping Belizean artists to better understand the business side of their craft, by teaming up with the Belizean Society of Composers Authors Publishers (BSCAP) to hold a webinar dealing with copyright law.
The session, titled “The Copyright Law of Music Business,” is being held on October 8, from 4 p.m to 5:00 p.m.
Allister Jenkins representing Magali Marin Young & Co. and Music Consultant-Emilio Thomas from Satuye Records will be presenting at the session and sharing insights on how artists can protect their work.
“The industry has been trying to fight back with new ways to monetize music consumption and creating innovative modules, all of which are done via online platforms. However, to ensure an artist’s craft is protected, it is important for them to understand Intellectual Property and Copyright,” ExportBelize said.
The agency also noted that the session is important, as the music industry was one of the hardest-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
