US Embassy’s October wonder woman is Shahera McKoy!

By BBN Staff: The United States Embassy in Belize is recognizing the women who help to make Belize great.

For the month of October, Shahera McKoy is Belize’s wonder woman.

With an interest in trade and supporting business development Shahera began her professional career in 1998.

 She began working with Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) in 2008 as an SME officer and is now the manager of EXPORTBelize sector.

 The export sector aides export development and export promotion by doing outreach to the private sector in order to offer support and facilitate export readiness.

EXPORTBelize has a leading/active role in programs such as Belize Seaweed Mariculture Project, Internationalization Program and Belize Music Industry Support.

 Shahera also participated in Americas Competitiveness Exchange through BELTRAIDE to help empower and educate girls, a matter which she is passionate about.

Projects that she is excited to implement in the near future include the Commonwealth Secretariat to help build support for their team in Belize, Compete Caribbean to help the development of the Cocoa industry, as well as developing an online platform connected to the BELTRAIDE website to actively promote exporters and facilitate B2B connections.

BELTRAIDE remains committed to assisting various industries through the pandemic by adapting their services to include access to finance seminar webinar series, virtual client advising, online training programs and assisting the government recovery strategy through the MSME Support program.

Shahera enjoys having the opportunity to assist multiple enterprises and individuals and in doing so contributing to the growth and success of Belize.
