By BBN Staff: Two flights landed at the Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (PGIA) today bringing 192 passengers to Belize.
According to the Ministry of Health, 88 of these passengers arrived with a negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. The other 104 passengers went through the airport screening process and picked up one (1) positive case. Since the PGIA re-opened on Thursday, 1st October 2020 for international travel, this is the first positive case of COVID-19 detected by health authorities.
In its COVID-19 update released earlier tonight, the Ministry reminded all passengers who are returning to their families, home or workplace, “that it is anticipated that all will be doing self quarantine for a minimum of 10 days notwithstanding a negative result; this is the broad recommendation to minimize further exposure”.
