Posted: Tuesday, October 6, 2020. 4:01 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Belize Sugar Industries (BSI) has extended condolences on the passing of a staff member today due to complications associated with COVID-19.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and work colleagues as we continue to battle this pandemic together. He will be greatly missed and the company has reached out to his family during this extremely difficult and sorrowful time,” the company said.

The company says that, given the high infection rate in Orange Walk, it continues to work closely with the Ministry of Health to manage and mitigate the risk for all employees. As a result, all workplace areas are being professionally sanitized.
