By BBN Staff: After processing a total of 260 samples were processed, 63 cases new cases of COVID-19 were identified, representing a positivity rate of 24.2%. Thirty eight of the new cases were in the Orange Walk district and 20 in the Belize district.
They detailed distribution of the new cases are as follows:
Orange Walk – 38 (21 in Town, 4 August Pine Ridge, 1 Carmelita, 1 Indian Church, 3 San Jose Palmar, 1 Yo Creek, 1 San Luis, 4 Trial Farm, 1 San Jose, 1 from Xaibe, Corozal)
Belize – 20 (6 City, 8 Kolbe, 1 Lords Bank, 1 San Pedro, 1 from OW Town, 1 from Teakettle, Cayo, 1 from San Felipe, OW and 1 from Xaibe, Corozal)
Corozal – 4 (3 Concepcion, 1 Cristo Rey)
Cayo – 1 (from Mahogany Heights)
There were 32 recoveries reported today. A total of 37.1% of total cases remain active.
In today’s COVID-19 update, the Ministry of Health advises that “we need to ensure that we are keeping abreast of the latest information and limit our outing in public unless it is for essential reasons”. In addition, the Ministry notes that “proper and consistent mask wearing and physical distancing remain vital in the prevention measures we have for COVID-19”.
