By BBN Staff: Community members in Bella Vista Village, Toledo, are appalled after vandals broke into Lady of Bella Vista R.C School, stole items, graffitied the walls, and attempted to set the building on fire.
BBN spoke with a teacher from the school, who explained that the discovery was made sometime around 7:00 a.m. by another staff member.
The teacher said that a classroom door was completely broken off.
In another classroom, the words “welcome back” were spray-painted on the walls and there were remains of several burnt objects that were used to start the fire.
Fortunately, there was no serious fire damage to the building.
The vandals also stole 35 reams of paper, various other school supplies, five standing fans, the school’s stove, its gas tank, and an assortment of tools including two drills a hammer, and an electric saw.
Police and the Belize Fire Service visited the scene but, thus far, no one has been detained in connection with the incident.
