By BBN Staff: Caribbean Journal Invest, a digital real estate publication, is reporting that Alaia Belize vacation homes, the first-ever properties being offered by the Merriott Autograph Collection in Belize, are selling out despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

CJ Invest published an article this week, noting that, as of October 3, 28 units from the oceanfront resort had been sold, putting 2020 sales on track to outpace 2019’s sales. The development by Andrew Ashcroft, located on the southern portion of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, has 35 hotel units, along with 56 two-bedroom units and a mix of
eight oceanfront villas, and is reportedly on track for a 2021 opening date.

Ashcroft told CJ Invest that the construction did suffer some delays due to the global shutdown in response to the pandemic, but that production has stayed “relatively close” to its original deadline.

CJ Invest quotes Myles Newell of Waypoint Real Estate, the firm marketing the project, as saying that over the past 45 days, all the villas and studios have been sold out. The units, Newell said, start at US$389,000 with financing available.
