Costa Rica re-opening to flights from Central American countries including Belize, next week

Posted: Friday, October 9, 2020. 4:11 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: As the region makes an attempt to revive its tourism sector, which was completely shut down by COVID-19, Costa Rica has announced that it will be allowing flights from several Central American countries, including Belize, as of October 15.

The list of countries includes Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Panama, and Nicaragua. The country’s Ministry of Health says that tourists coming in from the newly-added countries will be allowed in under the same entry measures as tourists from other countries. Costa Rica also announced new extended beach hours due to vehicle restrictions which are from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the week and from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.

An article published this week in The Costa Rica News, notes that, thus far, Mexico and Uruguay are the only Latin American countries that can enter Costa Rica, along with tourists from 47 other countries outside the region.

Costa Rica, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region, was not exempt from occurring massive losses as COVID-19 shut down global travel.
