Two more COVID-19 deaths in Belize; total deaths now at 37

By BBN Staff: In the last 24 hours, there were two (2) more COVID-19 related deaths in Belize. This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 37, representing a mortality rate of 1.48%.

According to the Ministry of Health, death no 36 is a male in his 60’s who did not have any interaction with the system and was brought in and died upon arrival at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH). Diagnosis was done post mortem.

The 37th death from COVID-19 occurred at the KHMH late last night. No further details were provided by the Ministry of Health.

As of Sunday morning, three (3) patient remain ventilated at KHMH’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The Director of Health Services notes that two (2) of these patients are slated to be discharged. In addition, one (1) patient is being transferred from the Northern Health Region to the KHMH due to his respiratory condition.
