United States Department of Defense said to be examining the presence of UFOs, Trump touts strength of US military

By Aaron Humes: The United States Department of Defense appears to be expanding its remit to forces beyond land, air and sea – and its Commander-in-Chief, President Donald Trump, believes they are well up to the job.

Speaking to FOX News’ Maria Bartiromo per the Independent (UK), the President said he had recently “heard” that the DoD had set up a task force to examine “unidentified alien phenomena,” after the Air Force released a video earlier this year showing pilots flying by what many people have speculated was an unidentified flying object (UFO).

Trump promised to “take a good, strong look at that” before touting the strength of the re-built U.S. military, claiming US$2.5 trillion has been spent to make the defensive might of the U.S. the envy of Russia and China – and perhaps, some joked, aliens with designs on invading Earth.

“Well, I’m going to have to check on that. I mean, I’ve heard that. I heard that two days ago. So I’ll check on that. I’ll take a good, strong look at that,” Mr. Trump said.

Trump has not shied away from playful chatter about aliens and UFOs. In an interview with his son Don Jr in June, the president hinted that he had seen some “interesting things” about the famous alleged UFO sighting and crash in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947.

U.S. defence officials claimed the object that crashed was a weather balloon, but the explanation has not dissuaded UFO enthusiasts from treating the city and the broader region as a kind of pilgrimage site.

Eventually, the U.S. military admitted that the wreckage was part of a top-secret atomic project.
