Commissioner of Police: Escaped prisoners are armed and dangerous

By BBN Staff: Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams has issued a statement on the escape of several inmates of the Belize Central Prison that occured earlier tonight.

Williams said that police and BDF officers have been deployed to assist in the search of the escapees.

Before escaping, the men were able to disarm one of the prison guards of his weapon.

“The general public is therefore asked to be extremely vigilant and careful when using the highways and not to pick up any stranger along your journey. The prisoners are considered to be armed and dangerous,” Williams urged.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of these prisoners can call 911 or 0800TIPS.

Williams also clarified that
Mason and his associates are not among the escapees.

Williams said that prison authorities are still working on the names and pictures of the escapees which will be shared as soon as possible.
