Commissioner of Police warns motorists to be watchful for escaped prisoners

By BBN Staff:  Commissioner of Police Chester Williams is calling on motorists to be careful as there are over 20 inmates from the Belize Central Prison still on the run and they may be looking for transportation.

Willimas, speaking at a press briefing this afternoon, called on drivers to remain vigilant, as the inmates, who escaped sometime after 6:00 p.m.yesterday would be looking to take vehicles from unsuspecting drivers and may harm them in the process.

Williams said that, once apprehended, the escaped prisoners will be additionally charged, and that the criminal code makes it an offense to aid an escaped prisoner.

He called on members of the public to ensure that they do not assist these escaped prisoners in any way.
