By BBN Staff: General elections are scheduled for November 11, 2020. For the first time, the country will hold an election amidst a pandemic
The number of COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Belize and the Ministry of Health continues to urge the public to take all precautionary measures.
Today, the Elections and Boundaries department released a series of infographics with new protocols to assist the public and election workers for election day.
The new guidelines will be implemented at all polling stations across the country.
Those include these steps:
Voter enters polling station, shows ID and/or announce name.
Voter removes mask for facial verification.
Voter must sanitize finger before dipping in indelible ink.
Voter dips right index finger to the first joint in the indelible ink.
Voter receives a ballot and a sanitized pencil from the presiding officer.
Voter marks ‘X’ for ONE candidate of choice on ballot paper.
Voter folds ballot paper to conceal vote before placing it in the ballot box.
Voter places pencil in the container used pencil for sanitization.
Voter immediately exits polling station.
Face masks and 6 feet social distancing remain mandatory protocols.
