Truly Turmeric from Naledo Belize wins “Best New Product” at UK food expo

By BBN Staff: Truly Turmeric the world’s first Tumeric paste created by the Toledo-based company Naledo Belize, has won the award for “Best New Product of the Year” at the international food expo Food Matters, in the United Kingdom.

The recognition is a first-ever for Belize. The company participated in the event through support from the European Union via the 11th EU Development Fund Regional Private Sector Development Programme and Caribbean Export.

“Thank you team Belize and all our growers, Spice farm, Texbell, Silk Grass, and our distributors ( Ecoideas- Canada, UNFI -USA and Circle R- Belize). Thank you to Marie Sharp for her advice, the Department of Youth Services, and the Government of Belize. We couldn’t do it without our Belizean team and our wonderful customers,” Naledo Belize said this morning.

Food Matters, regarded as one of the biggest food expos in the world, was held between October 13-14 and gathered essential players in the food and drinks market across the world. Naledo Belize represented the country at the expo alongside fellow Caribbean countries Jamaica, as well as Trinidad and Tobago.
