By Aaron Humes: While there will not be the usual parades accompanying political candidates due to be nominated next week Wednesday, motorcades may be allowed by the Police Department if the parties agree.
A meeting is scheduled with the heads of the People’s United Party; United Democratic Party and Belize Progressive Party in Belize City to gain their agreement on a plan outlined today for reporters by Police Commissioner Chester Williams.
Ten vehicles can accompany candidates to the separated nomination offices, but only the candidate and his nominators may leave the vehicle upon arrival. Once the nomination process is complete, the group may leave and return to their respective offices. All other regulations including mask wearing are in effect.
We’ll have more on the conduct of elections later on.
