Safe Corridor for tourists to be relaxed

Posted: Friday, October 16, 2020. 9:57 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Safe Corridor Tourist Protocols introduced months ago to manage tourist arrivals will be relaxed ahead of the coming high season, becoming “recommendations” for proper behavior rather than the punitive measures established at the time.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow observed that there is a risk of Belizeans visiting hotels and restaurants certified as “Gold Standard” by the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) infecting tourists, and for the most part, tourists have been observing the protocols established by the BTB including bringing a COVID-19 test and signing up to the Belize Health App.

Tourists will still be asked to limit their movement to Gold Standard properties only but can move around more freely subject to local regulations.
