By BBN Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize (Belize Met Service) says that relatively moist and slightly unstable weather will prevail today.
The 24-hour forecast calls for cloudy skies at times with a few showers, periods of rain, and isolated thunderstorms mainly offshore this morning and then spreading to the mainland later this evening and early tonight.
“A flood watch remains in effect for the possibility of flooding over low-lying and flood-prone areas, especially near rivers and streams along the eastern slopes of the Maya Mountains,” the Met Service said.
Today’s temperature highs will range from 85 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 90 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 77 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills. Tonight’s temperature lows will range from 76 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 72 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 66 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills.
Winds will be gusty, blowing North-Northwest 05-15 knots and the sea state will be light chop- rough.
“Operators of small crafts are advised to exercise caution for locally rough seas due to gusty winds near heavy showers and thunderstorms,” the Met Service added.
High tide will come in at 11:20 a.m. and low tide will begin at 4:52 p.m.
The sun will set at 5:28 p.m. and the moon will rise at 7:39 a.m.
