By BBN Staff: The Statistical Institue of Belize (SIB) continues its scheduled events for Statistics Week tomorrow with virtual presentations to schools.

The presentations, which will be done via zoom to tertiary level students at various campuses throughout the country, will run for Monday, October 19, and conclude on October 20, with the celebration of World Statistics Day.

The event will include information on the statistics that the SIB prepares as well as information from other generators of data within the National Statistical System (NSS). The SIB will also be posting videos on its Facebook page on October 20, from its international Partners in Statistics such as Statistics Canada and the Caricom Secretariat, about the importance of producing reliable data.

The SIB explained this week that it had to move all its events to digital platforms, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“We also take this opportunity to thank residents and other data providers across the country, from whom we have obtained valuable information which allows the SIB to produce accurate, timely, reliable, and accessible information pertaining to the country’s economic, demographic and social conditions,” the SIB said.

World Statistics Day 2020 is being celebrated under the theme events: Caribbean Statistics Day ‘Connecting the world with data we can trust’.
