More restrictions for dining in restaurants lifted

Posted: Monday, October 19, 2020. 10:48 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Government of Belize today informed of an amendment to the Quarantine (Prevention of spread of infectious disease- COVID-19) regulations 2020.

Statutory instrument 149 of 2020 now states that regulation 12 (a) has been repealed.

The new regulation states that restaurants, saloons, diners and other similar establishments holding a restaurant license may operate for dining in services, provided that guests of the same party, which party is limited to ten members, may be seated together. However, the operators of restaurants must still ensure that a distance of six (6) feet is maintained between tables.

The previous statutory instrument 136 provided that only 10 customers could dine at any one given time at a restaurant. This new amendment, however, allows restaurants to take in more people for dining, providing that the six (6) feet is maintained between tables and dining groups.

Dining continues to be by reservations only.
