United Airlines adds Denver-Belize flight amid expanded offerings to Caribbean, Central America

Posted: Monday, October 19, 2020. 10:53 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Beginning later this year and just in time for Belize’s high season in tourism, United Airlines will launch non-stop service from Denver, Colorado to Belize City (more specifically, the Philip Goldson International Airport in Ladyville).

United, Delta and American Airlines have been the three key partners working with Government on establishing service at the PGIA and has been the most consistent of the three, flying repatriation and special flights during the height of the pandemic here.

The new service is part of a Caribbean and Central American service expansion with returns to destinations such as the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico and El Salvador from various U.S. cities including Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

“These new routes highlight the continued expansion of our network and build upon our strong presence in Latin America,” said Patrick Quayle, United Airlines’ vice president of International Network and Alliances. “Our new and increased service offers travelers more opportunities to find warm-weather getaways and visit friends and family over the winter season.”

While, like its competitors, United’s flight schedule will be significantly reduced from a year ago, the additions in the wider Caribbean show confidence by the carrier in the future of Caribbean tourism.

Indeed, United earlier this month announced a broad relaunch of service to a host of Caribbean destinations, with plans to either relaunch or expand service to 26 routes in the wider Caribbean-Mexico region this winter.
