By BBN Staff: Political parties are preparing for nomination day festivities, some even planning a motorcade prior to the nominations; however, the Belize Police Department reminded those parties today that gatherings of more than 10 people are still prohibited by law.
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams issued a statement this morning saying that police will be out in full force on nomination day to ensure that regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are not being violated.
“We thus call on all political parties to act responsibly, abide by the laws, and to avoid confrontation with law enforcement. Any confrontation will put our already strained department at greater risk and strain,” Williams said.
He also called on all Belizeans to do their part in preventing the spread of the virus in their communities.
