John  Briceño to reach out to Dean Barrow over proposal to let COVID-19 positive patients vote from the hospital

Posted: Wednesday, October 21, 2020. 3:20 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Last week, Prime Minister Dean Barrow made the controversial announcement that COVID-19 positive patients would not be allowed to vote in the upcoming 2020 general elections due to quarantine regulations; however, People’s United Party (PUP) Leader John  Briceño believes he has a workaround.

In an interview with channel 7, Briceño said that he would be reaching out to the Prime Minister to “float” an idea of COVID-19 patients voting from the hospital.

Briceño also said that the decision to keep COVID-19 positive voters from voting is a tactic being used by the United Democratic Party (UDP) to suppress voters in an attempt to gain an advantage at the polls.

“The underlying message they are trying to give people, you know what don’t waste your time because if you go out there you could get sick because they know and the UDP does not want to go out to vote. So, any person that they can discourage from going to vote to potentially vote for the PUP is a plus for them,” Briceno said.
