Over 7,000 births in Belize last year, including 40 sets of twins

By BBN Staff: There were over 7,000 babies born in Belize for the year 2019, according to new data released by the Ministry of Health.

The data showed that a total of 7,296 babies  (3,681 females and 3,615 males) were born in Belize last year, including 40 sets of twins.

By district, Corozal had the lowest number of births (804), while Cayo had the highest (1,957).

Toledo saw 868 births, Stann Creek- 875, Orange Walk-1,055, and Belize 1,737.

The Ministry released the data during the celebration of World Statistics Day, celebrated on October 20.
