Posted: Wednesday, October 21, 2020. 3:57 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: You may remember his name, that is because Belizean-American businessman, Roman Palma has been extending a helping hand to many Belizeans.

More recently amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, he issued 15 scholarships to students across the country and donated thermometers to schools.

But, today, an announcement on Facebook went viral informing that Palma is interested in contesting the Municipal elections next year.

That announcement indicates that Palma is planning to contest the Municipal elections as a candidate for the People’s United Party (PUP) in San Ignacio and Santa Elena.

Palma will reportedly meet with PUP leaders in November to make that decision official.

“We all know how much Mr. Palma has been involved with not only our community but throughout our country of Belize and intends on continuing with his projects helping the ones in need as well as serving the people of San Ignacio with integrity and hard work. I strongly support his decision of running for San Ignacio Mayor as a PUP candidate in the coming elections and would greatly appreciate all our support in making sure of his election with your kind votes,” Belizean Victor Ayala wrote on social media.

Roman refers to himself as “ El hijo del Barrio Pobre,” the name of the street in San Ignacio where he grew up.
