University to host historic commencement exercise marking 20th Anniversary

By BBN Staff: The University of Belize will be hosting its 27th Commencement ceremony on October 24, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.

The University of Belize will honor 1,192 graduands at the Associate, Bachelor and Master levels as follows:

Bachelor’s 543

Associate’s 536

Certificate 83

Diploma 27

Master’s 3

The University is celebrating a major milestone where the majority of the graduates are receiving Bachelor’s Degrees – a first.  One hundred and seventy-eight students will receive degrees with Honors.

This will be UB’s first virtual graduation ceremony, its largest graduating class ever and also some of its first group of students to have emerged out of an online educational experience after the pandemic lockdown in March 2020. 

The University invites everyone as it celebrates these historic milestones on the year of its 20th anniversary. 

The ceremony will be broadcasted on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. on local media.

The featured speaker will be Ambassador Nestor Mendez, OAS Assistant Secretary-General.

Minister of Education, Patrick Faber, will bring a congratulatory message and the President, Prof. Emeritus Clement Sankat will give the welcome graduation address.
