Commissioner saddened by loss of patients to COVID-19

Posted: Tuesday, October 27, 2020. 2:42 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams says that he is saddened by the loss of patients to COVID-19.

Williams says that the public has a responsibility to protect the most vulnerable population.

“ But instead some of us are so selfish and self-centered that they only think about their personal instant gratification, recklessly throwing parties and not adhering to the Covid-19 protocols. At the end of the day it is our most vulnerable population, the elderly, those with pre-existing health conditions and now our children who are feeling the brunt of the irresponsible behavior of others,” Williams said.

Belize has seen its first pediatric death to COVID-19, a 6-year-old student from Trial Farm Arturo Godoy.

Williams says that the Ministry of Health and the Police continue to do in their power to minimize the further spread of this virus.

“ But we cannot do it alone, we need all to play their part by being more responsible in their actions,” he added.
