Outgoing Minister of State handed notice of intended prosecution following accident

By Aaron Humes: Outgoing Minister of State for Health and candidate of the United Democratic Party in Corozal Southwest, Dr. Angel Campos, was injured in a traffic accident late last week.

Both he and the driver of the other vehicle, one Manuel Leiva, have been served with a notice of intended prosecution pending investigation.

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head – National Crimes Investigation Branch, explained that Dr. Campos was driving a white Toyota 4Runner going north to south on the Philip Goldson Highway when he collided with Leiva’s white Dodge Nitro which was traveling east to west on the BSI Road.

Both men were judged to be “of sober mind” and so no samples for alcohol or other substances were taken. 

It remains for police to determine who had the right of way before the crash – Campos, traveling on the major highway, or Leiva, traveling on the secondary road.
