By BBN Staff: A Haitian shop owner was robbed at gunpoint in Belize City earlier this week.

The incident occurred around 6:25 p.m. on Monday, 26th October on Antelope Street Extension. Police visited the crime scene and spoke to 27 year old Maria Jean, a Haitian national and owner of the shop. She reported that her shop was held up by a Hispanic man who was dressed in a black shirt; the robber had on a black hat and wore a black mask as well.

According to Jean’s report, the robber approached the window which is used to serve customers and held her up with a black and gold pistol and demanded money. Fearing from her life she handed over an undisclosed amount of money. In a video shared with, and posted on, Breaking Belize News (BBN) there was another person assisting the armed robber in committing the crime.

The armed robber then got on a bicycle and made good his escape down Neal’s Pen road towards Central American Boulevard. The accomplice also escaped the scene.
