Ministry of Education tablet distributions begin in Cayo this week

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Education is beginning its distribution tablets for students to engage in distanced learning this week, beginning in the Cayo District.

United Democratic Party (UDP) Standard Bearer for Cayo Northeast John August, said today that the distribution of devices to Cayo schools will be done on Thursday, October 29 at 9:30 a.m. Thereafter, the schools will distribute devices to students based on needs-based assessments that were conducted earlier this year.

“This is the first phase of the distribution that will see 5,000 devices distributed. Priority in this phase will be given to first and fourth form students in ALL high schools countrywide,” August said.

Other distributions are as follows: Belize District- Friday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m.; Corozal, Monday, November 2, 9:30 a.m.; Orange Walk- Monday, November 2, 2:00 p.m.; Stann Creek- Tuesday, November 3, 9:30 a.m.; and Toledo- Tuesday, November 3, 2:00 p.m.;

The program will see an additional distribution within the next two weeks. Over 15,000 students are expected to benefit from the initiative, by the end of November 2020.
