Belize Transport Department: Passengers must now buy tickets before boarding bus

By BBN Staff: The Traffic Department today informed that the sale of tickets at Bus Terminals listed below will take effect on Monday, November 2nd, 2020.

 Dangriga Bus Terminal
Independence Bus Terminal
Belmopan Bus Terminal
Belize City Bus Terminal
Corozal Bus Terminal

Orange Walk bus terminal

The Department reminds bus operators of their responsibility to sell tickets at the bus terminals as mandated by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Regulation and the Quarantine
(Prevention of the spread of infectious disease) (Covid 19) Regulations, 2020 (Statutory Instrument No. 136 of 2020).

Regulation 15(4) of Statutory Instrument No. 136 of 2020 states that “Every person traveling on a bus is required to purchase a ticket which will entitle the holder to queue up, observing social distancing of six feet between persons, for and orderly boarding of the bus.”

The Department of Transport says that along with the Police Department, it will continue to enforce the provisions of the relevant legislation.
