One female doctor attached to the Dr. Otto Rodriguez Polyclinic in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, was caught out with another individual without her face mask and was charged by police.
She pleaded guilty to the offense on Tuesday as did the other individual, and was fined $1,000 and cost of court – the fine could have been as much as $5,000.
San Pedro saw the first two cases of COVID-19 in March and was briefly under a state of emergency lockdown. In late July and early August, a more severe outbreak took place and residents were once again placed in lockdown, only coming out in early September.
