Condolences pour in after death of Dr. Nestor Chan, career educator and University of Belize Lecturer

By Aaron Humes: Academics and intimates are tonight mourning the loss of former Dean of the Faculty of Education and Arts at the University of Belize (UB), Dr. Nestor Chan, who died of earlier today after battling with illness for a couple weeks in the hospital. 

University President, Dr. Clement Sankat, hailed his leadership, knowledge and impact and sent condolences to his surviving family. 

Meanwhile, the Association of Tertiary Level Institutions in Belize (ATLIB) issued their condolences, stating, “He was a great contributor to education; an educator and nationalist who worked for the betterment of our education system, our country and national development.” 

And on behalf of his native Orange Walk, Town Mayor Kevin Bernard stated, “Nestor, as we know him, was always a person who wanted to see betterment for his people.  He will surely be missed. May God give the family the strength to bear through this very difficult ordeal. Rest in eternal peace bro Chan and may your soul rise in Glory.” 

It is expected that tomorrow more condolences will pour in after the untimely passing of career educator, Dr. Nestor Chan.
