Dr. Nestor Chan, career educator and University of Belize Lecturer dies of illness

By BBN Staff: Career educator and University of Belize Lecturer, Dr. Nestor Chan, died earlier today after being hospitalized for a couple weeks.

Dr. Chan was a leading Lecturer in the Faculty of Education and Arts at the University of Belize and in the past served as the Dean of that Faculty.

President of UB, Prof. Clement Sankat, in a release said that he “had the honor of working very productively with him … I appreciated the knowledge and impact he and our University brought to bear on the Educational Sector of Belize and the respect in which he was held in this sphere.”

Dr. Chan is considered by many as a great contributor to education, a Lecturer who loved his students, a man who had the development of Belize at heart and an individual who was committed to improve Belize’s education system.

President Sankat noted that Dr. Chan’s passing passing “is not only a tremendous loss to our University but to Belize”.
