National Garifuna Council to launch virtual November celebrations calendar

By BBN Staff: Today, National Garifuna Council (NGC)  announced the date for the official launch of its virtual calendar for the November 2020 celebrations, being held under the theme “Garinagu: úara, here; awansera asta lidan liderenouga;” Garinagu: United and Strong, moving forward despite challenges.

The NGC said that, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it has decided to host several virtual events, focusing  on Garifuna identity, spirituality and perseverance, while honoring the contributions of past and present Garinagu and highlighting the vibrant Garifuna culture, language, music and dance.

“Our virtual launch will premiere on November 1st, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. on National Garifuna Council’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ngcbelize, and we encourage you to join us throughout the month as we commemorate the arrival of Garinagu to the shores of Belize,” the NGC said.

The NGC’s 12 branches countrywide will also be issuing updates on event dates and times.
