Sandhill man charged with rape at gunpoint

By Aaron Humes: Twenty-five-year-old Matthew Fuentes of Sandhill, Belize District, is behind bars, accused of raping a woman in her home at gunpoint.

Fuentes appeared before Magistrate Albert Hoare at the Central Prison in Hattieville via video link on Thursday morning and was formally remanded until December. The charge is an indictable offense and therefore no plea was taken.

Fuentes is accused by the complainant, 22, of forcing his way into her home with a gun around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. After hitting her in the head with the gun, she says, he forced her to perform oral sexual intercourse on him.
