By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health confirmed late this evening that a second person died today due to COVID-19, meaning that Belize has recorded 6 COVID-19 deaths in the last 2 days.
The first person died earlier today and is a male in his 40s from Corozal. The victim had underlying conditions and his diagnosis was performed post-mortem.
According to the Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero, the second person had been hospitalized at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. “He had been there for a number of days, but was only intubated his morning,” Manzanero said.
The man who was also in his 40s died this evening, making him the second person to have died of COVID-19 today.
A total of 58 persons have now died from complications related to COVID-19 in Belize. This represents a case fatality rate of 1.71%. A total of 3,382 persons have tested positive so far in Belize.
