By BBN Staff: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is closely monitoring a vigorous tropical wave located over the central Caribbean Sea.
The tropical wave continues to produce organized cloudiness and thunderstorms, and a tropical depression appears to be forming.
NHC reports that advisories will likely be initiated on this disturbance this afternoon or evening while the system moves generally westward at about 15 mph toward the western Caribbean Sea.
Regardless of development, this system could produce heavy rainfall across portions of Jamaica and Southern Hispaniola this weekend.
There is now a 100% chance of formation within the next 48 hours.
