Orange Walk pastor and parishioners detained for COVID-19 protocol violations

Posted: Sunday, November 1, 2020. 4:17 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Reports coming from Blue Creek, Orange Walk, are that a pastor and a group of his parishioners who were holding a church service earlier today were detained by police.

The Mennonite pastor was reportedly detained for violating the current COVID-19 prevention regulations of holding a gathering of more than 10 people.

Notably, a video circulating on social media shows that the parishioners were not practicing proper mask-wearing, which is also a violation of the current protocols.

Reports also say that the parishioners have since been released without charges, however, no official word on the incident has been made from the Belize Police Department.

This is a developing story.
