Police detain minor after failed robbery attempt

By BBN Staff: Police have a minor in custody following a failed robbery at ABC Shop in Belize City yesterday.

Reports are that the minor and a man walked into the store, located on Central American Boulevard to make a purchase. While one of them purchased cigarettes, the other pointed a gun at the shopkeeper and demanded money.

The 54-year-old shop keeper then knocked the gun out of the robber’s hands and took cover in the shop. Both robbers then ran off into the yard at the back of the shop and quick police response led to the detention of the minor and the recovery of the firearm used in the crime.
