BREAKING: Injured victim of traffic accident dies hours after release from hospital

By BBN Staff: A young man injured in a traffic accident earlier today died tonight after he was treated and released from the Western Regional Hospital. The victim, Eldin Requena, a resident of Santa Elena, Cayo was involved in an accident this afternoon.

The accident occurred between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. near the Orange Gallery in Unitedville, Cayo. A red pickup collided into a backhoe and at least one of the occupants of the red pickup was trapped inside. The San Ignacio fire truck was dispatched and was able to cut the vehicle and retrieve the occupant(s).

As a result of the accident, Eldin Requena received injuries to his body and was transported to the Western Regional Hospital. Requena was X-rayed, treated with medication and discharged a short while after.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) has confirmed that just before 8:00 p.m. Requena was rushed to the San Ignacio Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
