By BBN Staff: Earlier today, BBN reported of 16 people that needed assistance in being evacuated from an area behind the San Ignacio Hospital in Cayo.
Volunteers in the area were helping to bring out some residents in a canoe.
Personnel from NEMO and the BDF arrived and then left to get canoes.
Shortly after 11 a.m. rescuers returned with additional canoes and went in to assist.
Along with volunteers, they managed to evacuate the families who are now being taken to a shelter.
