By Aaron Humes: The chief of mission of the CARICOM Election Observation Mission is slated to arrive in Belize today ahead of general elections next Wednesday, the Community Secretariat has announced.

He heads a seven-member group hailing from Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada and Suriname who will observe the conduct of next week’s elections, assisted by two staff members of the Secretariat.

The other members arrive on Saturday and leave next week Friday.

Some 182,000 Belizeans will vote in 31 constituencies for area representatives in the National Assembly. Four major parties will contest elections as well as a few independents.
