George Price Highway flooded near Unitedville, Cayo; motorists advised to exercise caution

Posted: Friday, November 6, 2020. 9:19 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The George Price Highway between Unitedville and Blackman Eddy villages in the Cayo District is currently inundated with almost 3 feet of water and is affecting traffic to and from San Ignacio.

This is due to the waters from the flooded Belize River backing up across the highway. In addition, the flood waters along the river in this area continue to rise, albeit at a slower rate than earlier in the day, and as such the water level across the road is expected to rise further.

While trucks and larger vehicles are able to pass, small vehicles are turning back due to the water level across the highway. Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution when approaching this area especially during the night.
